NEO//QAB - Rilla Khaled

NEO//QAB * performance is a speculative garment that provides a darkly provocative take on religious tolerance, empowering individuals to deal with those who resist cultural assimilation by replacing them visually. Built with Processing, Kinect, Twine, and JavaScript, NEO//QAB is a two-person experience, involving a wearer of a full-body garment, and a controller, who controls the appearance of the garment through a mobile device. NEO//QAB foregrounds what is uncomfortable about enforcing rules for how others can dress, and opens a conversation around religion, immigration, legislation, and clothes.

Processing for visualizing data: from the lab to the studio, by Tyler Sloan

* talk - On my journey towards data literacy, Processing has been with me for every step of the way. In grad school, Processing allowed me to create plots and graphs which weren’t available in standard plotting software. Moving on, Processing remained my go-to tool for transforming ideas into quantitative visual displays. In my talk, I will show how my use of Processing has grown with me over the years using a few examples that have built to some of my favorite recent projects. Throughout my talk I will share insights and show packages that make life easier and plots prettier, and to help fit Processing sketches into an existing workflow.

Doodle Jams : Pens and Pixels - MaxD

Pens and Pixels * talk + performance is a interactive performance where someone is invited to interact with a projection artist, through drawing on paper which gets projection mapped at the same time it is drawn.

Freeliner is a Processing based project that started in 2013 on the simple concept of defining lines and animating them. Over the last 5 years the project grew into a reliable and feature-full piece of software. But it also disproportionately outgrew the concept of a Processing sketch, which lead to starting the project over with the Rust programing language.

Creative Coding: Beyond The Loops - Kofi Oduro

This * talk + performance explores the different settings and ways that Creative Coding can be used beyond the typical audiovisual lens, it is often associated with. Even though it is a digital medium, it can be utilized as a great tool for non digital entities. The talk will also touch upon potential benefits that can arise from engaging in a creative mindset when coding.

Escape Routes (2015) - Nima Navab

* talk - Through the nature of movement, response, resilience, acceptance and retaliation my aim is to address various patterns of movement in response to spaces of confinement; to create a dynamic environment where continuous flow of agents reacts to various immediate spatial relations. In this iteration I begin with basic behaviors of spatial intelligence, intelligence meaning immediate and continuous responses to periphery and dynamic interior borders of objects and their various resulting relationships.

yi' (callejón de luz) - Rodrigo Velasco + Patrick Gauvin

yi’ * talk + performance is a making-thinking process, a constant conversation between live coding and 3D photogrammetry. In this spectrum, sound and image are fields of relation. yi' moves ideas from the real-analog to the algorithmic realm with an interest in not to recreate, but to 'dérive', finding new openings and giving shape to unexpected encounters through different rhythms, sonorities and resonances in movement.

Prynth - Programmable sound synthesizers by Ivan Franco

* talk + performance - Prynth is an open source hardware and software framework for the construction of digital synthesizers using the Raspberry Pi and SuperCollider. While hardware synthesizers are built specifically for the embodied activity of music performance, computers have unmatched power and flexibility. Prynth proposes a new form of hybrid programmable device that tries to gather the advantages of both. Presented by Ivan Franco, creator of Prynth.

Wineglass - Katrina Jurjans

* talk - Using a reoccurring concept in my painting practice, which focuses on the transformations that happen across body boundaries – like when immaterial emotions cross the threshold of the body boundary and become the material substance of tears – as a starting point, I want to explore the various material transformations that the painting will undergo as it moves away from its flat, pictorial origins into the complexity of physical space. In this process, I will experiment with material explorations with embodied media historically seen as separate from painting, like light and sound.

Programming in LSDJ, with Dominique Pelletier

* talk + performance Little Sound DJ is a 16-step sequencer developed by Johan Kotlinski. It can be executed on a Gameboy emulator from a computer, a phone, a tablet, or even other game consoles such as the Sony PSP. It allows the player to use the Gameboy like any musical instrument. Often referred to as chiptune, music produced on a Gameboy can extend to any genre, from classical to experimental, jazz, electronic, hip-hop, noise, and so much more. Come discover the pixelated possibilities of this little machine and its giant sounds!

Graphic design meets creative coding, with Arthur Cloche

* talk - Swiss born former graphic designer, young director of a branding agency (yokai.agency) and freshly arrived in the p5.js / Processing world thanks to a Daniel Shiffman tutorial that randomly popped on my YouTube homepage, I really enjoy to push the boundaries of conventional graphic design by adding code to my workflow as a tool to generate visual assets.

la voix totale - Minh Duc Nguyen

* performance - With the beginning of science and technology, we have this constant need of understanding our environment, once the world, the earth, following with the secrets of the universe. The cosmos is the totality of space, time, energy, matter and dark matter. Besides its components there are for instance, the relativitytheory or the quantumtheory, the fundamental laws of the science that hold the unverse together, also well known by famous scientists such as Albert Einstein [...]

Ta.chyons.exe

* talk ta.chyons.exe is a project and cyber persona, interlapping A/V, sound work, electronics and installation[s] as means to create pieces and soundscapes around cyberspace and reality. In 2018, Exe.Jocko, a new collaborative sound project rised around an industrial coding background. This talk will touch bases on how to use creative coding through tidalcycles as a tool for alternative sound projects. Exe.Jocko roots from dark cyber ambient and experimental soundscapes, mixed with industrial influences and finally, rooted around a medical kink that is threaded around a cyber kink.
